A spokesperson for the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce has a few safety tips for parents to remind their children for Friday morning's parade.

The 50th annual Pioneer Days Parade begins at 10am and brings along many street closures in Steinbach. Brett Adnum explains as of 8am, Hespler Street will be closed, Westbound Main Street from the water tower to Highway 12 from Main to Stonebridge Crossing. He issues a few reminders for parents.

"I think the main thing to remember is that candy will be thrown out past the barricades and you want kids to stay back from it," notes Adnum," especially with traffic coming from the other side of Main Street and just not to get in the way of the other floats coming up ahead."

Adnum says as this is the 50th anniversary of the parade, they have implemented a golden anniversary theme and adds they've has some good response to that so far.

"We even have a couple that has entered their 50th wedding anniversary and decorated their float accordingly so that will be interesting to see."
