Steinbach’s Royal Canadian Legion branch is making poppy covered masks.

“The poppy masks are another way to give back to the legion,” says 1st Vice President Audrey Harder.

The masks are designed in Ottawa and made in Canada for the purpose of raising money for veteran services.

“It has been a very trying time,” shares Harder. “We hardly have any rentals because of COVID, so it has been a little crazy, and these masks are definitely helping to cover some of the costs we’ve had.”

Harder says they have already gone through their first order and will be ordering in higher quantities next time.

“I think it’s important to know that the money does actually go back to veterans so they have a place to go, and people to help them out when they need it,” offers Harder. “It’s not just a mask, it has a purpose.”

The poppy masks can be purchased by leaving a phone message at the local Royal Canadian Legion, writing an email, or messaging their Facebook page.
