A Steinbach developer finally got the go-ahead for an RV park in Ontario.

However, David Banman says they had to alter their initial plans for Minaki on the River.

“The original plan called for people to own their own little slice of the lake,” explains Banman, “and in this situation, we’ve had to kind of adjust our plans a little, and these will be seasonal rentals.”

Banman says there will be 198 units up for rental, as well as, 8 existing heritage gatherings.

“We’re really happy to get some people out on the lake that maybe wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so,” says Banman. “We have a long waiting list already and we’re really interested in getting going.”

Banman says they did have some opposition to their proposed wastewater plant, but that the appeal was denied. “There are a couple of details that we do want to hammer out as to locations of all the different sites and services to those sites. So, that’s going to take a while.”

According to Banman, the existing restaurant will be maintained, however, the 20-year-old gold course has been deemed economically unviable.

“We’re hoping to up by next year,” offers Banman, “but at least to start construction by the beginning of next year, with the hope of having it done at the end of the season.”
