The farmers market season is underway, and a variety of vendors are ready to sell their wares in Steinbach.

At the opening market in Steinbach, Megan Morin was comfortable with her set up to show her pottery.

She has replaced her tent and tables from last year with something unique.

“It's a 2-horse bumper pull trailer that I've converted into a market trailer,” she says.

The shelves inside were milled from an oak tree from their property.

Morin says there is still a bit more to do on the market trailer, like painting, but she's already very happy with it.

“I don't have to worry about the wind blowing away my tent and setting up shelving and hauling sandbags,” she says. “It's just super nice and it's out of the weather. If it rains, I'm high and dry in my trailer.”

Inside the trailer, Morin has a variety of pottery she has worked on throughout the winter, from coffee mugs and bowls to vases and, her favourites, the windchimes.

“There is a real science behind the length of the bell, the width of the bell, and then the size of the instrument inside that makes the sound,” she says. “So, they all do have a very unique sound as well.”

The Steinbach and District Farmers Market runs every Thursday until the end of September.

While the first market of the season was held behind Smitty’s Restaurant last week, it was at that location only for that one day. The rest of the markets will be held at the usual location in the parking lot of Clearspring Centre.
