SRSS Volleyball Team Wins Gold in Hawaii

The SRSS varsity volleyball teams competed in an international volleyball tournament yesterday in Honolulu.

The varsity girls team had a difficult draw playing during the heat of the day in a non-air conditioned gym. The temperature with humidex was near 40 degrees Celsius. The girls had some excellent play during the tournament and finished 5th overall.

The varsity boys team was fortunate to play late in the afternoon and into the evening. They went undefeated in round robin play and through the semi-finals, beating both Hawaiian teams and Canadian teams. In the finals, the Sabres were matched up against another undefeated team from Alberta. The boys played consistent and strong and defeated them to win gold.

Both teams won't be back in Steinbach until this Saturday.
