Plans are being made for S.R.S.S. graduates to experience a more traditional ceremony as restrictions are lifted this month.

Letters went out yesterday stating the grad convocation will happen at the RBC Convention Centre on June 23rd at 10 a.m.

Hanover School Division Superintendent Shelley Amos says this is the only Hanover high school that has graduation details so far.

“Because the (SRSS) is so large, there’s limited options for us. We have to move a little faster with that one to secure the convention centre. The other three schools do more local things.”

She says it is exciting to return to the usual style of graduation events but notes the large outdoor screens will be kept on hand, just in case...

"It’ll still be ‘Plan B’ in the unfortunate event we would need to use them,” Amos says, adding, “Some people really did like that.”

However, she believes many people are eager to plan something more ‘normal’ for their children.

Amos recognizes the 10 a.m. convocation followed by a 5 p.m. banquet will result in a longer break than usual. While this is not ideal, she says they had little choice when it came to reserving the large room at the convention centre.

To shorten that break, the banquet will happen a bit earlier than usual.

Students in Landmark, Niverville and Grunthal will soon get details on their graduation ceremony.
