The Carillon Sultans are still waiting to play their first game of the 2022 Manitoba Junior Baseball League season. The Sultans game against the four-time defending champion Elmwood Giants scheduled for tonight in Steinbach has been postponed. The ball diamond at A.D. Penner Park is too wet. Carillon now has three postponed games that need to be rescheduled. The Sultans were to open the season at home this past Sunday with a doubleheader against the Interlake Blue Jays. That twinbill, along with the three other doubleheaders scheduled for opening day, were postponed because of poor field conditions.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Sioux Falls Canaries were rained out Tuesday. The Fish and Canaries will play a pair of seven inning games today starting at 5:35 p.m. at Shaw Park.

The CFL players strike is into day four. The strike currently affects the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Redblacks, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, BC Lions, and Saskatchewan Roughriders. The two Alberta teams, the Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders, have been carrying on with their camps, as scheduled, due to provincial labour laws forbidding them to strike for a period of 72 hours from the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which occurred Saturday at midnight. The pre-season schedule is to begin Victoria Day Monday with the Blue Bombers facing the Roughriders in Regina.

Team Canada has the day off at the 2022 World Men's Hockey Championship in Helsinki. Canada has a 3-0 record and will face Kazakhstan on Thursday. Team Canada will also meet Switzerland on Saturday, Denmark on Monday and wrap up the preliminary round against France on Tuesday.
