The Steinbach Pistons and OCN Blizzard are going the distance. Cole Plowman stopped 27 shots as the defending Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions defeated OCN 4-1 Monday night at the Roy H. Johnston Arena in The Pas. Kirk Mullen, Samuel Noad, Jackson Kostiuk and Connor Paronuzzi did the goal scoring for the Pistons who evened the best-of-seven semifinal at three games apiece. Cheechoo Lathlin had the lone goal for the Blizzard who led 1-0 after the first period. Steinbach had a 3-1 lead after forty minutes. The deciding seventh game goes Wednesday night at the HyLife Centre in La Broquerie. The winner will face the Winkler Flyers in round three. Jakob Jones scored 51 seconds into the fourth overtime period to lift Winkler past the Virden Oil Capitals 2-1 at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. The Flyers took that series four games to two. It's Winkler's first trip to the MJHL final in 22 years.

The Winnipeg Jets face the Seattle Kraken tonight at Canada Life Centre. The Jets, who are riding a six-game winning streak, need one point in their final two regular season games to clinch home ice advantage when they meet the Colorado Avalanche in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Manitoba Moose announced their 2023-24 Player Award winners. Kristian Reichel was named the Most Valuable Player Award winner; the Best Defenceman Award went to Kyle Capobianco; Brad Lambert & Nikita Chibrikov shared Rookie of the Year Award honors; the Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award went to Jimmy Oligny and the Fan Favorite Award winner is Brad Lambert.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed American defensive lineman Chauncey Rivers. The 26-year-old Stone Mountain, Georgia native most recently played with the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL in 2023, recording 16 tackles, five tackles for a loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks. He signed with the D.C. Defenders of the United Football League in February and was traded to the Birmingham Stallions before being released in late March. Rivers began his pro career with the Baltimore Ravens, signing with the club as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He appeared in one game with the Ravens, spending the rest of the season on the practice roster. The Green Bay Packers acquired Rivers off waivers in 2021 and he appeared in four games and making two tackles.
