The Carillon Sultans have sole possession of first place in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League. The Sultans defeated the Elmwood Giants 7-6 and 5-3 Wednesday night at Koskie Field. Cody Gunderson singled home Meech Nadeau with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh in the opener as Carillon rallied from a four-run deficit. Brady Papineau had three hits and drove in a pair of runs in game two. The Sultans are 13-2 and will face the defending champion St. Boniface Legionaires Friday at Whittier Park. The second place Giants are 11-4.

Josh Epp had three hits and Austin Friesen drilled a two-run homer in the Carillon Sultans 5-3 victory over the Springfield Braves in Dugald. Nate Christiuk got the win. He went five innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out five. The Sultans have won back-to-back games after starting the 2024 Winnipeg Senior Baseball League season with four straight losses. Carillon will play a doubleheader against the Stonewall Blue Jays Sunday night at Quarry Park.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes dropped a 6-3 decision to the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Former Winnipeg first baseman Jacob Bockelie hit a ball to centre field that Miles Simington lost in the sun and the ball dropped in for a three-run, inside-the-park home run in the top of the third inning. That gave the RailCats a 6-2 lead. With two runners on in the bottom of the ninth, Goldeyes right fielder Max Murphy drove a ball deep to right field that Gary's Chad Smith caught with his back against the wall to end the ballgame.
