Connor Borgfjord made 28 saves as the defending Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League champion Lorette Comets defeated the Landmark Blues 4-1. Devon Weir, Grady Forster, Hunter Mangin and Trey Dixon did the goal scoring for the Comets. Landmark captain Noah Keating had the lone goal for the Blues.


Brady Gregoire scored twice and Ethan Doell potted the go-ahead goal with 29 seconds left as the St. Malo Warriors rallied for a 4-3 victory over the North Winnipeg Satelites. Damon Johnson also scored for the hometown Warriors who trailed 3-0 until Johnson scored his third of the season at 11:37 of the third period.


The Niverville Nighthawks dropped a 4-2 decision to the Portage Terriers. Isaac Rentmeester and Brett Tataryn with his 10th of the season did the goal scoring for the Nighthawks who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.


The Eastman Selects were outshot 41-16 and lost 3-1 to the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Sun Gro Centre in Beausejour. Easton Odut had a pair of power play goals for the Wheat Kings. Luc De Gagne had the lone goal for the Selects on the power play with 26 seconds remaining in the third period. Eastman netminder Francois Gagnon made 38 saves.


The Carman Beavers, Portage Islanders and defending champion Warren Mercs were winners in the SEMHL Saturday night. Tanner Mole had a hat trick and AJ Nychuk scored his second goal of the game 61 seconds into overtime to lift the Beavers past Red River 6-5 in St. Jean. Gavin Froese and Blake Forsyth each had a goal and an assist for the Wild. Channing Brescciani had a five-point night with two goals and three helpers as the Islander defeated Ile des Chenes 8-0 in the Northstars home-opener. Steve Christie stopped 37 shots in recording the shutout. Braydon MacDonald scored three times as the Mercs edged the Hawks 5-4 in Notre Dame.


Zach Benson scored the tying goal at 14:19 of the third period and Owen Pederson potted the go-ahead marker on the power play 76 seconds later as Winnipeg defeated Brandon 4-3. Conor Geekie and Ty Nash also scored for the Ice who played their home-opener Saturday night at the newly renovated Wayne Fleming Arena at the Max Bell Centre. Winnipeg played its first 13 games on the road this season. The Ice won 12 of those 13 games. Nate Danielson, Charlie Elick and Zakhar Polshakov did the goal scoring for the Wheat Kings.


The Manitoba Moose dropped a 5-2 decision to the Iowa Wild at Canada Life Centre. Sammy Walker had a pair of power play goals for Iowa. Kevin Stenlund and Jansen Harkins scored for the Moose who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end. Harkins extended his goal-scoring streak to five games.


The 2022 CFL regular season schedule is over. The B.C. Lions (12-6) will host the Calgary Stampeders (12-6) next Sunday. The winner will face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (15-3) at IG Field in the West Division final in two weeks. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (8-10) will take on the Montreal Alouettes (9-9) at Percival Memorial Stadium and that winner will meet the Toronto Argonauts (11-7) at BMO Field in the East Division final. The Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-12), Edmonton Elks (4-14) and Ottawa Redblacks (4-14) failed to qualify for the playoffs.
