Manitoba champion Jennifer Jones will meet Krista McCarville of Northern Ontario in the 1-2 page playoff game at 8 p.m. at the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops. Jones outscored defending champion Kerri Einarson 7-6 and McCarville beat Christina Black of Nova Scotia 6-3 in Friday night's page playoff seeding games. Einarson will face Black in the 3-4 game at 3 p.m.


Adam Hughesman scored four times and Mike Rey had a pair as the Morden Bombers defeated the defending SEMHL champion Mercs 7-4 in Warren in game one of their best-of-five semifinal. Jay Fehr had the other Bombers goal. Chase Faulkner, Eric Swanson, Braydon MacDonald and Travis Bobbee replied for the Mercs. Game two goes Sunday afternoon in Morden. The Ste. Anne Aces host the Portage Islanders tonight. The Aces lead that series 1-0 after beating the Islanders 6-5 in overtime Wednesday at Stride Place.


The Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders will meet the Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn Falcons in the gold medal game at the Provincial AA High School Hockey Championship in Swan Lake. The Raiders downed Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur 3-1 and the Falcons outscored the Pembina Tigers 8-6 in the semifinals. The Major Pratt Trojans beat the host Mountain Mustangs 8-3 in the consolation final.


The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 4-3 decision to Regina. Connor Bedard scored the go-ahead goal for the Pats as he potted his 53rd goal of the season with 1:55 left in regulation. Nolan Ritchie, Matthew Henry and Nate Danielson replied for the Wheat Kings. Daniel Hauser made 29 saves as the Winnipeg Ice shaded the Rebels 2-1 in Red Deer.


The Winnipeg Jets gave up four first period goals and lost 5-1 to the Colorado Avalanche at Canada Life Centre. Mason Appleton had the lone goal for the Jets who have lost four of their last five games.
