The Steinbach Pioneers are Baseball Manitoba Provincial 13U A champions. The Pioneers defeated Mitchell 11-2 in the final Sunday in Winkler. La Broquerie fell 10-9 to Winkler in the 15U A final in Swan River and Brandon beat host Stonewall 6-4 in the 11U A final at Quarry Park.


The Winkler Renegades captured Softball Manitoba's Provincial U13 A championship at Buhler Recreation Park in Winnipeg. 


The Carillon Sultans and defending Manitoba Junior Baseball League champion Elmwood Giants split a doubleheader at Koskie Field. The Sultans plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning and won the opener 7-5. Carillon catcher Burke Heide had two hits and drove in four runs. The Giants took the second game 10-0. The Sultans have a 9-13 record and can finish no higher than fifth in the MJBL standings. Carillon will wrap up the regular season schedule with a pair of five innings games against the St. Boniface Legionaires Wednesday at Whittier Park.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes plated nine runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 12-3 victory over the Sioux City Explorers at Shaw Park. David Washington and Max Murphy had two home runs each for the Fish while Logan Hill and Justin Thompson also went deep. The Goldeyes reached the All-Star break with a 28-24 record and are in third place in the American Association's West Division. Winnipeg is eight games back of the first place Fargo- Moorhead Redhawks. The American Association All-Star game goes Tuesday in Chicago.
