Summer is kicking off with a busy weekend in the southeast and we will be attending four events!  

Friday, June 21 – Eastman Softball Tournament  

The Southeast Girls Softball League is hosting their Year End Jamboree tournament in Mitchell this weekend. Girls from levels U9 to U15 will be playing each other to see who’s the best of the southeast.  

The first game will be at 5:30 on Friday evening.

Saturday, June 22 – Fête de la Saint-Jean Baptiste  

La Broquerie is hosting their annual Saint-Jean Baptiste celebration this Saturday and Sunday. Starting the day off right at 8:30am with a free pancake breakfast on Saturday. There will also be a Farmers Market and baseball tournament throughout the day, ending with musical performances. Beer gardens and canteen will be open from 9am to 6pm. 

On Sunday, Mass will begin at 10am followed by the parade at 11:30am. Kids activities begin at 12:30 with face painting, petting zoo, and games. They will have a magician, as well as a family baseball tournament. Live entertainment on the Main Stage will happen all afternoon. 

They will also be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to La Broquerie Helping Hands.

Saturday, June 22 – Prairie Basketball Tournament  

The Prairie Basketball League will be hosting the Championships at Clearspring Middle School on Saturday, followed by the All-Star games on Sunday.  

Teams who have worked hard to come out on top all spring, will show what they have on Saturday by playing against each other to win it all.

8:30 – Future Stars Celebration 

10:00 – Juniors  

12:00 – High School 

2:00 – Open Women’s  

4:00 – Senior 

6:00 – Open A 

8:00 – Open Elite

Sunday, June 23 – Pride in Steinbach 

This year's Steinbach Pride March will take place at K.R. Barkman Park. The rally and speeches will begin at 1pm followed by the walk around 1:30pm.  

Parking is available on Main Street and accessible parking at the United Church of Steinbach.  

Those joining the walk are encouraged to bring flags, signs, colourful outfits, friends, and family!  

The Pride committee is also in search of more volunteers for the walk and other events. Find more information on how to volunteer or about the walk on their Facebook page.
