Two Smitty's Restaurant locations, including the one in Steinbach, helped raise $1800.00 that will go towards Brianna Seewald's spinal therapy.

On May the 14th, Smitty's in Steinbach and Meadowood put aside 10 per cent of their takeout and delivery income aside for Seewald. Hospitality Operator Kaely Dyck says they thought it would be busy but did not expect just how busy they ended up being. "Oh my goodness, what a day," Dyck says with a laugh. "We expected a fair amount of community support because Brianna's story has touched so many people. So, we knew the community would get behind it but we were completely blown away."

There were a few challenges that came with so many people wanting to help out and get a good meal. "Our online system is only supposed to allow a certain amount of orders in a 15 minute period, but that day it threw caution to the wind and accepted an unlimited amount of orders," Dyck explains. "At one point, we had 43 orders within one 15 minute block. We broke Smitty's a little bit that day. That was pretty incredible."

While Smitty's in Steinbach is no stranger to sales, Dyck believes that they hit a nationwide best that night. "Smitty's Steinbach has been the top sales of any Smitty's across Canada for four years running. On that night for Brianna, we had our top sales hour ever. I can't say for sure but it's a pretty safe bet that it was the busiest hour for any Smitty's across Canada ever."

osity is just so beautiful. Being able to watch the community come together is truly breathtaking. This means more to me than I could ever say. It means so much to my family as well. This means more to me than I could ever put into words. Thank you. Thank you."
