A smashed minivan sits at the intersection of Hwy 12 and PR 210

Six people were sent to hospital following a horrific crash at the Highway 12/PR 210 intersection late Friday afternoon.

According to Ste. Anne Police Sgt. Randy Chudyk, it appears a car travelling west through the intersection (right) struck a packed southbound minivan just before 5pm.

"We found five occupants in one vehicle,a Dodge van, and a single occupant in a smaller car that was in the ditch.  Emergency response attended along with Steinbach RCMP and assessed those hurt at the scene and transported them to hospital."

Chudyk says there were no fatalities involved.

"No fatalities no, but undetermined injuries at this time.  Everyone was transported to hospital - in Steinbach and Ste. Anne."

Police had to close off the highway for about an hour while the scene was cleared.  One lane traffic was let through just after 5:30pm with both southbound lanes re-opened just after 6pm.

The investigation continues.
