Operations Christmas Child Shoebox store has opened up in Blumenort and it'll be going until November 11th.

The Church foyer will be filled with toys, school supplies and other items that'll fill up an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox for children that otherwise, may go without.

Debbie deKlein explains it's not just a shoebox full of items but you can include a very special personal touch. "There's a paper you can fill out, it's an "all about me". The kids who are receiving the boxes, love to have a personal note. It's a little bit more like someone caring (about the kids) and not just from someplace."

deKlein will also be heading out to Costa Rica to deliver the shoeboxes and her family aren't the only ones making such a trip. "There's a group of 25-30 people from across Canada going on this trip. There are numerous trips throughout the year delivering shoeboxes to different areas. They all don't go at the same time. We're going at Christmas. By the time they process them, get them shipped out and go through customs, sometimes it's spring and even summer by the time they get the shoeboxes. The thing is, some don't even know about Christmas. So, if they get a gift in July, they're just as happy."
