This car crashed into a semi on Highway 52 Thursday evening.

It could have been a lot worse.  That's how Kleefeld Deputy Fire Chief Armin Dueck describes a collision Thursday night that involved a semi and a car.  It happened around 9pm on Highway 52 just west of PR 206.

Traffic waited for lanes to re-open

Dueck says the driver of the northbound car failed to stop at Highway 52 and the eastbound semi driver veered into the westbound lane in an attempt to avoid a collision.  But the two vehicles crashed.

Dueck says the car almost got pinned underneath the trailer and that the female driver was fortunate the car just rolled along the side of the trailer.  He tells us she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

That section of highway was closed to traffic for a while and Dueck points out there was a lot of debris scattered along the highway.

The car was badly damaged and Dueck says the semi will need minor repairs.
