Tanner Friesen stopped 20 shots and Jared Magne scored the winning goal with 34 seconds left in the second period as the Eastman Selects opened the 2011-2012 Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League season with a 4-2 victory over the Kenora Thistles at the Sun-Gro Centre in Beausejour. Kevin Smith, Justin Baudry and Devon Schade also scored for the Selects who will play their first road game of the season on Sunday afternoon in Morden against the Pembina Valley Hawks. Baudry will play for Team Manitoba at the 2011 Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup in Moose Jaw from October 27th-30th.
