The Manager of Works and Operations for the Rural Municipality of Hanover says roads and highways are slick today.

With the blast of winter weather, Wes Fehr urges motorists to drive with extra caution.

"I would say probably the east/west roads would be worst as far as highways are concerned because of the north winds that we have," notes Fehr. "There are areas on the east/west roads that are catching some snow or having more ice build up."

Fehr says municipal crews have been out sanding and salting today.

Sanders have also been out in Steinbach today.

Randy Reimer, Head of Public Works says it will probably be the end of the day before the whole community is hit, including residential streets.

He notes with the forecast, it seems slick streets might be the theme of this week. Reimer says they are monitoring sidewalks but says they don't appear to be too bad.
