Jamie Roy of Quarry Oaks is Golf Manitoba’s 2019 Provincial Rural Men’s Amateur champion.

The 20-year-old Kleefeld product fired rounds of 75-73 this past weekend at the Neepawa golf course and finished with a 36-hole total of four-over par 148.

That was three shots better than Ryden Hargreaves of Brandon.

Roy, who finished in a tie for 42nd place at the Provincial Men’s Amateur Championship last month at his home course, will be attending the University of Manitoba this fall.

Roy is enrolled in agribusiness and will also try to play his way onto the U of M golf team this month.

One spot is up for grabs at the Bisons qualifier which will be held at the Southwood Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg on August 22nd.
