The RM of Hanover has decided to keep its election campaign spending limits as is. Council reviewed the limits last week as part of the preparations for the municipal election coming up October 24th. Reeve Stan Toews says council voted to keep the spending limits at $5,000 for councillors and $15,000 for reeve candidates. He adds there was no reason to change them.

"So far, nobody has come close to spending those amounts so that's why we just left it the way it was."

The election is still nine months off and it will be a few months yet before the campaigning can begin. Mayors and Reeves can register for the fall election as early as May 1st while the registration period for councillors begins on June 30th.
