Southern Manitoba is expected to receive more precipitation this week.

According to Environment Canada, some light snow and freezing drizzle will occur Monday night into Tuesday morning. Following that, a prolonged snow event will begin late Tuesday evening with local areas receiving anywhere from 10 to 30 centimetres of snow by the weekend.

A Colorado low will move through the upper Midwest of the United States bringing snow into our region starting Tuesday night and into Wednesday. With the above seasonal temperatures in place as the low-pressure system approaches, the snow is expected to be wet and heavy. The worst conditions are expected to be in the communities along the international border.

Environment Canada says as the area of low pressure moves through the Midwestern states towards the Great Lakes on Wednesday night and into Thursday, a hang-back area of snowfall is expected to linger over southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba through the week.

It is expected that over the course of the week, snowfall accumulations will generally range from 10 to 20 centimetres, with some local amounts reaching as high as 30 centimetres by the weekend.

Conditions will improve Friday into Saturday as the Colorado low continues to track eastward, ushering in another surge of Arctic air, bringing back more normal temperatures.
