A record-setting pickup and walk saw over 2,000 volunteers on Saturday morning.

Solid Waste Department Head Eldon Wallman says the work of these volunteers in three to four hours would have three full-time workers busy for a year. Wallman adds over ten tonnes of garbage was collected this year.

"We actually found a fair bit of construction material this year that was blown around. We've had some pretty bad winds in the last couple weeks and stuff gets blown away from construction sites."

Interesting finds this year included a grad dress bowling picture, Monopoly money, a small Santa hat, a garden glove missing two fingers, and a crayfish.
