A police vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 59 and PR 311 this past Friday.

According to the RCMP, officers from the St. Pierre detachment were responding to a high-priority call in an unmarked police vehicle at approximately 6:30 P.M.

Police say the vehicle was travelling northbound on Highway 59 with emergency equipment activated. The police vehicle entered the intersection of PR 311 and Highway 59 on a red light and collided with an eastbound pickup truck.

One of the officers in the vehicle was transported to local hospital, where he was treated for minor physical injuries and released. The female driver of the pickup truck was transported to Winnipeg hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The police vehicle was equipped with a camera. A RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has been notified of the collision.

RCMP say at the time of the collision, a separate police vehicle was dispatched to the initial call officers were responding to.
