RCMP made numerous arrests last week after targeting several prolific offenders in the Powerview-Pine Falls area. 

The RCMP Strategic Enforcement Response Team (SERT) conducted a deployment in that area between Tuesday and Thursday of last week. During the operation, SERT was assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Traffic Services and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.

SERT members participated in the execution of six search warrants under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as two public safety firearms warrants under the Criminal Code.

A total of 13 arrest warrants were executed in the Powerview-Pine Falls area and two were executed in Winnipeg by the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit. Seven individuals were remanded into custody on various charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and six firearms were seized. Forty-seven charges were laid under provincial statutes including the Highway Traffic Act. 

RCMP are noting two arrests of residents of Powerview-Pine Falls. They are 54-year-old Lorin Morriseau who was arrested on six outstanding warrants of arrest and remanded into custody. Morriseau was on bail for 26 outstanding charges at the time of his arrest.

Also, from Powerview-Pine Falls, is 40-year-old Charles Epp, who was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing ammunition while prohibited and one count of breaching a release order and remanded into custody. Epp was on bail for eight offences at the time of his arrest.

RCMP have noted four other arrests. Twenty-five-year-old Bradley Bone of Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with possessing firearms knowing the possession is unauthorized, possession of firearms while prohibited and uttering threats. He was remanded into custody.

Thirty-eight-year-old Isaiah Morrisseau of Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with possessing firearms knowing the possession was unauthorized and possession of firearms while prohibited and remanded into custody. Morrisseau was on probation at the time of his arrest.

Twenty-five-year-old Kyah Harry of Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with possessing firearms knowing the possession was unauthorized and possession of a firearm while prohibited. She was remanded into custody.

And, 37-year-old Lydia Guimond of Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and remanded into custody. At the time of her arrest Guimond was serving a conditional sentence.

"During this deployment we were able to disrupt the drug trade, seize firearms and arrest a number of individuals with outstanding warrants. We know this will have a positive effect on the community of Powerview-Pine Falls and the surrounding areas."
