Most of Manitoba's winter roads are now closed for the season. But, not before RCMP successfully rescued three adults north of Lynn Lake last week.

On April 10th at approximately 11:10 am, RCMP received a report of three adults that were stranded on the winter road, approximately 100 kilometres north of Lynn Lake, on their way to Tadoule Lake.

Police say the group had left Lynn Lake at approximately 3 am and then got stuck on the winter road at about 7 am. They used a satellite phone to stay in contact with family and RCMP.

Police chartered a helicopter and began searching for the group. Their exact location was unknown and the search was postponed at nightfall. RCMP remained in contact with the group and they had food, gasoline, fuel and had started a fire and so police determined they would be safe overnight.

The following morning, RCMP returned searching and at 9 am, located the three adults safe and in good health.

Manitoba RCMP are reminding motorists that most winter roads are now closed and are unsafe for travel. Motorists who decide to travel may face fines and charges.
