A charge has been laid following a collision on Friday evening just north of Steinbach. It occurred around 7 p-m on Provincial Road 311, three miles east of of highway #12. RCMP say a grain truck was trying to turn off the highway and collided with an oncoming pick-up truck. There was extensive damage to the vehicles but injuries were minor. The driver of the grain truck, a 76 year-old male, has been charged with failure to yield to traffic.

Meanwhile, RCMP are investigating several incidents of vandalism that occurred in Steinbach late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. A vehicle parked along Main Street, that belongs to the Southern Regional Health Authority, had its windshield smashed. Some fenceposts were removed from a yard along Barkman Avenue. A vehicle and a stop sign on Hanover Street were splattered with paint and some garbage receptacles along Elmdale Drive were knocked over. Steinbach RCMP are investigating two weekend incidents where community mail boxes were broken into. One incident was reported late Saturday morning in Zhoda and the other late Saturday afternoon along Municipal Road 43 east near Ste. Anne. Investigators say the boxes were pried open but it's not known if anything was stolen. People who receive mail at these locations are asked to contact Canada Post and RCMP  if they find out that their mail has been stolen.
