Jesse Adams leads the Bantam Raiders during the preseason tournament.

The Eastman Raiders took part in a preseason tournament in Winnipeg on the weekend.

Jesse Adams is the head coach of the bantam team, which posted two wins and one loss over the course of the tournament.  Adams says the two wins came in blowout shutouts, while the loss was 19-14 against a team he predicts will be one of the best in the league.

"They played really well actually," he describes of his team's performance over the weekend.  "I wasn't sure what to expect, we lost a lot of players but they played really good for all three games.  They were really competitive."

Adams was very encouraged to see the team play well in it's first game action of the year, and he explains it was great for both himself and the players to be back in that situation.

"We actually have a lot of new players who this was their first time playing football," he says.  "So those guys were really pumped about it, and the returning players were really excited as well."

The Raiders managed to post between 30 and 40 points in each of their wins, and Adams says that was something that really stood out to him.

"Our offense is really strong, we have a a really good o-line and then a really potent passing game," describes Adams.  "We threw the ball really well, I think we had four or five scores that were thrown touchdowns.  That's something that's uncommon for this age, so that's really good.  We also have some really good running backs."

He adds the defense also looked sharp, as highlighted by only allowing 19 points in three games.  The preseason games will be a great tune-up for the Raiders as they prepare for the games that really matter, which start with the regular season in two weeks.
