The Village of St. Pierre reflects on a productive year with two big milestones set in the community.

Mayor Mona Fallis says the parish celebrated its 140th anniversary and the village itself celebrated 70 years of being incorporated. She also notes they were able to accomplish two major projects this year.

"In our park, we were able to build a splash pad that’s been great for the young families in the community, it brings a lot of joy and gets people to come to the park which is one of their goals, that our Parc Carillon becomes a meeting place in the community. Our other major project that we’ve been working on for five years is we’ve been able to complete is our lagoon expansion so we’re very fortunate and we’re very glad that’s done and we can move forward."

Fallis says the completion of their lagoon expansion has been holding them back from growing for the past five years.

"The lagoon expansion will allow our community to grow to a capacity of about 2,000 people, to the criteria of today. We’ve been on a stand hold since 2012 so it’s been very difficult for our contractors in the community, it’s been difficult for our commerce and not being able to expand so now it’s full steam ahead and we’re looking forward to the new year."
