International Development Enterprises met with local businessmen Monday in Steinbach to descover how they can create partnerships in overseas development.IDE teaches farmers in developing countries how to farm more productively and move their families out of poverty.  Mitchell area hog and grain producer Eric Peters says he was drawn to IDE's thrust toward helping small scale farmers in development and not just providing relief.  IDE sells low cost technology such as treadle water pumps to farmers so they can increase production and their bottom line.  Peters says he has been an observer to the success stories that farmers in Africa have achieved.  Noting a jump in income from $100.00 to $300.00 per year is enough to move these families out of poverty.  Peters says when you look at the overall need in developing countries it can become very overwhelming.  But the idea of helping one family at a time is very appealing to him.
