Those living in and around Grunthal have already seen the signs – something grand is on its way.

Grunthal Lumber’s much-anticipated Grand Opening is finally scheduled for May 24th to 28th, which means five days of great deals and fantastic events!

Mel Funk co-owns Grunthal Lumber alongside Murray Rempel. Funk says they’ve been in their new building for about a year already, and have been waiting all this time to host a Grand Opening. This one promises to be especially grand!

“We’re going to have food trucks, bouncy castles for the kids, a chicken and pork barbecue, and two different bands from the city,” explains Funk. “We’re going to make a bit of a carnival out of things.”

Grunthal Lumber is making much of their Grand Opening for good reason. The business has been a Main Street staple in Grunthal for 28 years.

“Murray started the business in 1994 and built it up,” says Funk. “Four years ago, I became co-owner and thought there was room for growth, but that meant we’d need to build a new building – add some property, some new product and so forth – and that’s what we’ve done.”

Some might be surprised at the exceptionally grand scale of Grunthal Lumber’s Grand Opening.

“We’ve got a very, very loyal customer base in our area, a lot of farming and various industries,” explains Funk. “People in our area here have treated us well, so we wanted to give back.”
