Reduced speed zones near local schools will be patrolled more heavily by police officers in the coming days and weeks.

As they have done in years past, Manitoba Public Insurance has provided funding to the RCMP to enhance their surveillance of school speed zones this September as school begins. Patrols will be most active in the mornings and afternoons when the volume of pedestrian traffic around schools is the highest. Drivers are reminded that enforcement can take place before, during, or after classes in the designated school zone.

In Steinbach, most school zones restrict vehicle speed to 30 kilometers an hour between 8 AM and 5 PM every weekday.
