Caring for young children can sometimes be tough, and it is easy for parents and caregivers to lose confidence in themselves.

That is why the Steinbach Family Resource Centre holds a variety of programs to allow parents to connect with each other and share their struggles as well as success.

Maggie Cowell is an outreach worker and parent educator at the centre. She says one of the powerful programs they run is called Nobody’s Perfect.

“We have a problem, we don’t know what to do with it, but if we can share that with other people, we get different answers.”

When parents realize they are not alone with their experiences and challenges, Cowell says it can make a world of difference.

Nobody’s Perfect is an opportunity for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 to connect and discuss their personal challenges and experiences in parenting. While the current session is already underway, there are many programs and opportunities at the centre for parents to meet each other, support each other, and find encouragement.

Cowell says there is a lot to gain by connecting with other parents who are experiencing similar challenges.

“So, it helps you meet new people who share the same interests and concerns. And it’s free. Everything at our centre is free.”

Cowell says the centre also offers free childcare during such programs which makes it easier for parents and caregivers of young children to access valuable support.
