Angeline Martin of Steinbach just got back from the distribution centre in Calgary where they told her they are short 100,000 boxes this year.
Safeway in Steinbach is willing to take shoe boxes until December 15th and Paul Brandt Trucking of Morris has offered to bring the boxes to the distribution centre in Calgary.  Martin says there are 2 main thoughts as to why the numbers are down.  One is that with the warm weather in November people weren't thinking Christmas and the other is that the deadline was moved up this year and that might have caught some off guard.  Martin says just use your own shoe box or a plastic container and label it either for a boy or girl and the age that it should go to.  The boxes should include hygiene items, school supplies and toys and the age categories are from 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14.
