La Broquerie held its opening pitch ceremony Saturday, June 27.

Reeve Lewis Weiss explains they received grants which allowed them to construct new dug outs, put up fencing and complete yard work.

Daniel Piche, President of the Ste. Jean Baptiste committee says this is fantastic.

"I know it took a long time to get this together," notes Piche. "They've been needing these improvements for a long time and as you can see they're fantastic. So it's really going to help the ball in this town. It helps baseball because now we actually have facilities that people can come play and even if it starts raining, well now they're covered. Before they were out in the elements. So if the weather turns on us then at least we can hide out for a few minutes until it passes and keep the ball going."

Christian Turenne was given the honour of throwing the opening pitch.
