Niverville Town Council has awarded contracts for all road repairs and micro-sealing in 2018.

Mayor Myron Dyck says town council has awarded the road repair contract to Diamond Construction for $187,400 which is very comparable to what they have spent in recent years.

“Some of the particular places that are going to be receiving road repair are on Cedar Drive ,we are going to be doing some paving work on 6th Avenue and PR 311 on the south side, we are going to be starting to pave a little bit down that street as far as the intersection is concerned and we also have some repair work to do on 3rd Street South.”

Dyck notes there will only be a few metres of the 6th Avenue South that will be paved this year to help clean up the intersection. He notes a number of construction companies submitted bids but Diamond Construction came out on top.

“It is good value that the community is getting. The overall amount is in keeping with other years but council is encouraged to see that there hasn’t been a huge increase in what road repairs are, so with what we are getting we are happy to award the contract to Diamond Construction.”

In addition to road repair, Niverville town council awarded a micro-sealing contract for 2018 to West-Can Seal Coatings for $90,756. In total, 1,338 linear metres of residential road will receive micro-sealing this year.
