A national summer bowling program is now available in Steinbach.

Rosalita Gallego from Steinbach Bowling Alley and Bistro says they have partnered with kidsbowlfree.com to offer affordable bowling for children during the summer months.

“This is our way of giving back to the community,” she says. “Since we took over in February until at this time, the community is supporting us.”

The way this program runs, families need to go online to kidsbowlfree.com, sign up to participate, and then check your email for coupons that you will bring with you to the bowling alley.

Gallego says this is an affordable way to add some fun and physical activity to our families' summer holidays.

“This is an option for other families to gather around,” she says. “They enjoy the music, they enjoy having a get together, having fun while they're doing their own physical activities as well, especially for kids.”

And Gallego says it is fun to see children enjoying themselves at the bowling alley.

"If they are just staying home, they are just doing whatever, in front of the computer or tablet or cell phone. But this (option), they can gather here and they're partying every time they are here,” she says. “It's not just bowling. They are partying because we give them  good music so they dance while they're playing bowling at the same time.”

Since taking ownership in February, Rommel Gallego says they have felt strong support from the entire region.

“Businesses, churches, youth groups,” he says, listing the many groups who have been showing support for the local bowling alley. “Also, the hockey teams, they came here to play wind up games. They've been here coming from Grunthal, Kleefeld, from Winnipeg, all surrounding towns.”

Rosalita and Rommel Gallego and their partners, Truman and Chrysanthemum Tanedo, took over ownership of the bowling alley in Steinbach during the past winter.
