Motorists travelling through Deacon's Corner will want to take note of some changes to that intersection today.

Construction crews have been making improvements to that intersection along the Trans Canada Highway and Thursday will be the day when this project transitions from Stage B to Stage C.

The province has confirmed that beginning at 9:15 Thursday morning, the Trans Canada Highway will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction. Traffic signals in all directions will be turned off and motorists will be directed through the intersection by multiple flagpersons. Additional flagpersons will be on-site to ensure access and egress to local businesses remains. Also, during this transition, installation of newly positioned traffic signals will take place and crews will install Stage C traffic signals and pavement markings.

According to the province, the transition work is expected to be completed later in the day Thursday afternoon.

Stage C work will consist of reconstructing the eastbound lanes while accommodating all traffic on the north half of the roadway. During Stage C, two lanes of traffic along the Trans Canada Highway will be maintained in both directions and the existing Provincial Road 207 detour for westbound to southbound traffic will continue.

The estimated completion date of Stage C is early September. However, this schedule is dependent on favourable weather.
