This was the first morning where we were not the first people on location!  We pulled up to the Steinbach Aquatic Centre to a line up.  No...they weren't there that early to line up for a sample of our yummy MIX Morning Blend coffee...but to get a number for swimming registration.  After they got their number, THEN they stopped for coffee! We couldn't talk anyone into getting out of line to sample the coffee. Talk about priorities!  Amanda was first in line and arrived at the pool at 5:30 to claim ticket #1.  There were no sleeping bags or tents on site, but we did see some lawn chairs and people getting comfy on the sidewalk while waiting in line.  It was an amicable crowd, there was no jostling for position, they were quiet, they were focussed and they were ready.

Clarence Brandt stopped by for a visit after securing ticket #17, he got up early to grab a spot for his grandson...Clarence for the grandpa win!  We asked people if they took swimming lessons and Clarence was basically thrown into the watering hole on the farm to see if he could float...which we discovered was not unsual for those of a certain age. Some of us recall taking lessons at the local pool with lifeguards showing us how to float and do the front crawl.  Jane Hanson, manager of the Steinbach Aquatic Centre stopped by for some coffee and shared that she loved swimming so much she became a lifeguard and completed the swimming life by now working at the centre since it opened in 2002.

Corny revealed that he never took swimming lessons, he was just thrown in the water and figured it out (kinda like Clarence).  Carly hit the pool at an early age and was resilient and made it throw despite some difficult memories tied to the Maroon swimming level.  She failed Maroon because she couldn't do a forward roll into the pool and had a rather frightening story about mouth to mouth resuscitation with a boy.  Maroon was not a good colour for Carly and she's thankful that is part of the past.

Jeanette DeLong from Envision stopped by our Sunscape Sunroom to talk about Envision's participation in Fuel Good Day with Clearview Co-op.  She was rather excited about this hot weather as it will mean people will want to stop by the Co-op and buy a Big Cool Drink.  5 cents of every litre of gas sold, and $1 for every coffee and Big Cool drink will be donated to Envision.  Stop by fill up your vehicle and grab a drink!

Cassandra Kornelson stopped by to chat about the upcoming rec hockey registration taking place this Friday at 8 a.m.   She recommends people take the time to review their account, or create an account at the city website so they don't lose any time getting that all set up.  Last year the registration was full in 3 minutes.  Cassandra also noted that the registration system follows the time that would be on your phone...don't go by the time on your microwave or alarm clock!  Cassandra has vague flashbacks about swimming lessons, so she did take some as a child, but nothing traumatic like Carly's experience.

Ang Marting was at the Steinbach Aquatic Centre to register some kids for ROC Eastman and mentioned she loves hearing how excited the kids are when they learn they are getting swimming lessons.  Ang enjoyed her sample of the MIX Morning Blend and said it was delicious.  We can't help but agree!

Yet another great morning on the road! It was a beautiful morning and the colours of fall are starting to show up!  Listen in tomorrow morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.  and find us in Mitchell at the Clearview Co-op and try a sample of the exclusive MIX Morning Blend from Negash Coffee. Enjoy this warm sunny day!
