By the end of this week, some kids in Steinbach will have a better understanding of the way of life for our ancestors.  Mennonite Heritage Village is putting on a day camp.  Executive Director Gary Martens says the kids age 6 to 12 will be dressed as pioneers and then take part in hands-on activities like quilting, making biscuits, feeding animals and harnessing horses.  Martens says there are 2 reasons why they're trying this for the first time.  First of all the Museum realizes parents in Steinbach are looking for activities for their children in summer.  He says this is a great opportunity and very close to home.  The second reason is to try and get children interested in the Museum at an early age and hopefully convince them to volunteer down the road.
