Local mayors, reeves and councillors held an informal meeting Thursday night.
  
Steinbach city council invited them to a reception to talk about working together in a spirit of cooperation.  Hanover Reeve Stan Toews hopes this is the first of many such meetings, adding the region will become even stronger if councils work together.  La Broquerie Reeve Marielle Wiebe agrees and adds this is long overdue.  Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen is very pleased with the evening.  He adds councils won't always agree on issues.  But at least if there are good relationships, they can have a respectful discussion and understand the other's position.
