A section of McKenzie Boulevard is set to be closed for construction on June 1st.

Kyle Shymko is the Head Engineer for the City of Steinbach. He notes this paving project was prompted by developers in the area.

“The McKenzie roadwork is part of the Lexington Village development there. The reason we are developing McKenzie is because the properties adjacent to the street are going to be developed so we urbanize this section of the street to match the surrounding areas. The section that will be paved will be between Crescenwood Drive and Windsor Gate.”

Shymko says they are only paving as far as the area is developed. He adds construction will begin on Monday, June 1st and that stretch of road will be closed.

“We expect the asphalt to be complete by the end of June, perhaps early July after which they will be completing the landscaping work surrounding the street and so during that period there may be some reduced speed through that area but we do expect that all the landscaping should be complete by the end of July.”
