Gary Friesen with Manitoba Conservation's Fire Program says they upgraded it from low to high over the weekend and unless it rains soon, the fire danger could very quickly become extreme.
Friesen says most of the province is drying out and with thunderstorm activity in some areas, the danger has heightened.  However, he says the saving grace has been the odd shower in some forests.  Friesen urges everyone to be extra cautious these days when starting fires.  He says it's bad enough dealing with fires caused by lightning.
