Manitoba turns 148 today.

Today is Manitoba Day and the Executive Director for the Mennonite Heritage Village says we have a great province and a lot going for us here in the prairies. He adds this day often goes unrecognized.

"I think it wouldn't hurt that if as a province and as communities, we would make a little more out of Manitoba Day. It's just a little hard to do during the week when everybody's at work because it's not a statutory holiday so people go to work on a usual Manitoba Day. This year it happens to fall on a Saturday and it's just great that we can celebrate like this today."

A special ceremony was held this morning at the MHV and Dyck says it was a beautiful day to celebrate our province's 148th birthday.
