Crops are advancing very well in southeastern Manitoba.  This week's crop report from Manitoba Agriculture states spring wheat is entering the flag leaf stage, while some barley is headed and much is at flag leaf.  Some early seeded canola is flowering, and 75 per cent is in the rosette stage to bolting.
Soybeans are in the first to second trifoliate, corn is up to 45 centimeters tall, flax ranges from 10 centimeters to flowering, while sunflowers range from 20 to 60 centimeters.  The majority of winter wheat fields have been sprayed for leaf diseases, and fall rye is in the late milking stage.  Haying is almost complete with the early cut coming off in excellent condition.  Those fields which were cut early already have 8 to 10 centimeters of new growth, and indications are second cut could be earlier than average.
