The Liberal agriculture critic is baffled by an amendment to the Accountability Act put forward by an NDP MP.  Wayne Easter says it would allow the Access to Information Act to be applied to the Canadian Wheat Board.  He stresses the Department of Justice has clearly determined the Board is not a government agency and does not receive funding from the Feds.  Easter notes, therefore if the Wheat Board had to abide by the Access to Information Act it would put some of its commercial endeavours in jeopardy and put it at a disadvantage compared to large grain companies like Cargil and ADM.  Easter has already submitted an additional amendment which would remove the NDP's suggestion.
