La Broquerie Council has unanimously approved a new 14-lot subdivision just south of Highway 52.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says his council is always in favour of creating residential opportunities both within and outside of their community and is pleased this development on Carriere Road takes advantage of the infrastructure already in place.

“This particular one is great because it is along a road we have recently paved,” details Weiss, “and there is no development yet along that specific mile.”

Weiss adds the developers are none other than La Broquerie Fire Chief Alain Nadeau and his wife, Anne.

“That is a property they have owned for quite some time,” remarks Weiss. “He has been tossing some ideas around and proposed this recent one and it looks good.”

In addition to heading the municipal fire department, Nadeau raises bison on a nearby piece of land. With that in mind, he has chosen to name the new roadway ‘Bison Ridge Road’.

Council approved the new road with several conditions for the applicant including a mandatory engineered drainage plan and a separate pedestrian corridor alongside the new roadway.

Weiss expects construction on the development will begin this summer.
