La Broquerie Council this past Wednesday approved a new road and attached subdivision.

“It’s a very typical subdivision,” notes Reeve Lewis Weiss who says the development will be located just west of the community of La Broquerie along a southbound mile road near Highway 52.

The residential area in question has grown significantly in recent years and, according to Weiss, that is a very intentional move of Council. He says adding subdivisions where there are already many homes present, in the end, saves the municipality money.

“If we are already having to improve these high-traffic roads, we want to keep the traffic on these roads that we are having to spend all of the money on instead of throwing a new subdivision five miles out in the middle of nowhere and then having to rebuild five miles of road.”

“Lilly’s Cove” as the developer has chosen to call it, will be a street of 16 housing units ending in a cul de sac.
