Jets split with Columbus

The Winnipeg Jets recorded a win and a loss on Tuesday night as they faced the Columbus Blue Jackets in a home-and-home split squad doubleheader.

Mark Scheifele had a four point night with two goals and two assists and Paul Postma had a goal and three helpers as the Jets downed the Blue Jackets 6-1 in front of a boisterous crowd of 15,004 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Andrew Ladd, Ivan Telegin and Kevin Clark also scored for the Jets who lead 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 after forty minutes. 

Jets head coach Claude Noel talked about Mark Scheifele's performance against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Dustin Byfuglien and Nik Antropov each had a pair of assists. Ondrej Pavelec got the start in net for Winnipeg and played the first two periods. He stopped 17 of 18 shots. David Aebischer stopped all nine shots he faced in the final twenty minutes.

The other Winnipeg split squad gave up four second period goals and lost 5-1 to the Blue Jackets in Columbus. Evander Kane had the lone goal for the Jets who will continue their pre-season schedule on Saturday when they face the Predators in Nashville.
