The Winnipeg Jets magic number to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup playoffs is one.

The Jets need one point in their final two games to earn a berth in the post-season after downing the San Jose Sharks 6-2 Monday night at Canada Life Centre.

Josh Morrissey had a goal and two assists for Winnipeg.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Adam Lowry, Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Mason Appleton also scored for the Jets who went 4-1 on their homestand.

Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck made 19 saves while James Reimer stopped 27 shots in net for San Jose.

Erik Karlsson scored twice for the Sharks to reach 100 points on the season.

He's the sixth defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone joining Bobby Orr, Paul Coffey, Al MacInnis, Brian Leetch and Denis Potvin.

San Jose forward and Clear Lake native Tristen Robins had two shots and was minus-1 in 16:25 of ice time in his NHL debut.

The Jets are three points ahead of the Nashville Predators for the second wild card in the Western Conference with two games remaining.

Nashville eliminated the Calgary Flames from playoff contention with a 3-2 shootout win on Monday.

Winnipeg will face the Minnesota Wild tonight in St. Paul and play their regular season finale Thursday against the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

The Predators host the Wild on Thursday and the Avalanche on Friday.
